Strawberry Farms

Strawberry lovers will never fail to remember their favourite fruit whenever they step foot at Cameron Highlands, a heaven for fresh strawberries, strawberry jam, strawberry ice creams and even strawberry merchandise. The weather condition in Cameron Highlands allows this lovely berry to flourish, and there are five popular strawberry farms in Cameron Highlands: Big Red Strawberry Farm, Healthy Strawberry Farm, Kasimani’s Strawberry Farm, KHM Strawberry Farm and Raju’s Hill Strawberry Farm.

Most of these farm operators really know how to capture the heart of the visitors. Visitors may actually be allowed to pick their own strawberries when they come to these farms, and to pay for the strawberries they picked based on weight, and usually there is condition applies to allow for this hands-on berry picking, which is the purchase of a minimum weight.

One of the more popular strawberry farms, the Big Red Strawberry Farm, is also known as the Taman Agro Tourism Cameron Highlands. It is situated right beside Cactus Valley in Brinchang, and just about 500 metres from the Star Regency Hotel / Apartment. This strawberry farm is well prepared for visitors with free admission and a lovely cafe offering a wide variety of foods prepared with strawberries, including smoothies, milk shakes and waffle with strawberry sauce. Visitors may pick their own strawberries in the farm. There is also a gift shop within its vicinity. Other than strawberries, there is also a tomato garden and the cultivation of various types of orchids and cactus plants. The parking lot accommodates up to twenty cars at any one time. Also, there is no need for a minimum purchase in this farm. Its souvenir shop offers packaged strawberry goods and other interesting and sometimes non-strawberry items.

Another similar farm is the Healthy Strawberry Farm that offers visitors a chance to pick their own strawberries. While it does not have a cafeteria, it sells home-made ice creams. There are a lot of other flowers and cactus plants, plus organic vegetables in this farm, in sync with its theme for the health conscious. Meanwhile, Raju’s Hill Strawberry Farm comes with a processing plant that is open for visitors viewing.

The best time to visit the strawberry farms is between April and June, when the strawberries grow best with the least rainfall. Usually, the minimum purchase that allows hand picking of strawberries is half a kilogramme, priced approximately RM20 to RM25.
